Time for reflection

Time.,... Oh how I wish I had more, seems lately there is never enough time. Time to spend visiting friends and family, time to sew, time to work, clean, cook.
Today I will take time, I will prioritize, I will go to my sewing room and finish the last quilt for this year! :)
This afternoon I will decorate the last tree and finish putting up the last of the decorations, put a nice meal in the crock pot. Tonight I will begin celebrating the season for what it is. I will relax with hubby, watch a Christmas  movie, and wait for it......ahhhhh I will relax. I will not worry about what needs doing. I will enjoy the season for what it is Time... to spend with family & friends, time to relax and enjoy little girls and little boys smiles, time to enjoy the message of Christmas! Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas to all of you.

I'm back

Yes I am back, had the knee surgery on Thursday, and now I am at home recouping, getting physical therapy which is a blessing. I miss my machine and sewing room but it gives me a goal to work towards.
Today my to oldest daughters will come and have dinner, this is a good thing I think dad needs a break, he is a worry wart when it comes to me. While the girls are here I will have them pull a few things downstairs for me to stitch on, I need to do something when I am not doing my exercises.
Thanks to all who popped in on my blog and wished me well.... now come on knee get moving there is  to much stuff to finish in my sewing room.
Have a wonderful day.

knees knees knees

Tomorrow will be my last day of work for the Summer, I will be having knee replacement surgery on July 8th. Lately all I think about is knees, you know crazy things. Bees Knees, Knee Jerk, the knee bone connects to the shin bone, deep knee bends,  head shoulders knees and toes..... I know crazy, I think this is what is keeping me calm. I was to have double knee replacement, but Doc wants to try other treatments on the left knee for now so it will be just the right knee for now.
I need to put together some hand work to do while I am recuperating, and I just can't seem to find the time to do this....Let me know if you can come up with any other knee sayings I think I will keep a list.
That's all for now.

the quilters closet

Barb from bejeweled quilts, showed us her stash a little while ago.. now we all know we have stashes so I decided to take a look at mine.
This picture is of my quilt closet, yes I have a closet designated just for quilts. The funny thing is even though I quilt for others most of these that have yet to be quilted belong to me. I counted 4 quilts for customers in the front, and hold your breath 37 quilts of my own (these are just the ones hung up).
every hanger you can see has a quilt on it, there are probably another 10 in there that are my mothers. I'm sorry Mom I will try to get to some of yours soon. I can't even begin to look at the ufo's and fabric stash right now.

Sunset in R.I.

One lovely weenend in the end of March was spent in Newport R.I. with old friends, good times and wonderfull views. ahhhh got to love the sunsets!

sisters & chains

Hi all,
Here is a beautiful red & white Irish Chain, this was pieced by my sister Patty.
Patty got carried away making blocks this quilt was huge 120 x 122.
I worked a lot of late nights and a couple of long weekend, but I got it done and Patty got it bound to be in our guild quilt show next weekend. I was literally chained to the machine to get this one done, gotta love your sisters and I do love mine.

Its been a while

I'ts been a while so I think it is time for a new post. Here is what is on the frame today, a little bit of Christmas in April.
First is a ,log cabin wreath this is my Mom's and has been hanging around way to long. It will be on the frame for a few more hours I need to re-time my machine.

Next is a snowman quilt, this came off the frame this morning, it's cute primitive looking, a simple snowflake edge to edge, and it's done.
The coal and carrot pieces were raw edge and zig zagged down not close enough to the edges, I had to glue stick them down to keep them from flipping over when quilting.

Spring cleaning & a BIG THANK YOU

Spring Cleaning and a BIG THANK YOU

I am in the process of Spring Cleaning today, started in the kitchen and I am half way done. Don't you always feel better when you get that big cleaning done.
As I was doing my cleaning and looking around for something springy to display, I saw these lovelies, the heart, crochet hat and nightlight as well as the two beautiful button cards were part of a give away at Blushing Rose, Marydon is such a generous lady, check out her blog it is very nice. Thank You Marydon for the gifts, they are being used and enjoyed. The heart is one of the first things people will see when they come up the stairs, I hope the pause to read the card attached as the poem is very touching.
Thanks again & happy spring.

Goodbye to old Red

Today my husband sold his pickup truck, I know to most this is nothing huge...but to him it was a big deal.
This truck was the first new vehicle he ever bought and he is very very picky about keeping it clean and maintained. It was very sad to see the truck pull away.

Finished the binding on my grandaughters quilt, this is one of two that I made one for each of my granddaughters.
I also loaded and started this quilt for a customer, it is now complete and ready for pick up.

opam project #1

Well as January starts off this one is good so far. I joined the OPAM group over at  Pegs site "Happy in Quilting". Set my list of to be finished projects and have completed 1, hemmed 4 pairs of pajama pants for Mr. C. and 2 pairs of jeans for DSIL. Project # 2 is in the works, I purchased 2 cute snowman quilt kits at our anual shop hop.  These were suppose to be Christmas presents for my two cute granddaughters, but due to last minute quilting for customers and a case of the flu before Christmas they did not get done.
However... thanks to the OPAM challenge, they are both pieced and machine quilted and one is partially bound the second just needs the hand sewing on the binding. YIPEE, I hope I can keep this up all year, I have a lot of UFO's.
Thanks Peg for the challenge, now if I can just get the darn button loaded on my blog things will be great.

irish chain

This is one of last customer quilts I completed right before Christmas, I realy love how it came out.
I would love to make an Irish Chain for myself now, however, I need to make this year a year of finish up.
I had a nice visit with my sister this afternoon, and she told me finished should be my word for 2010, and by the looks of my sewing room I think she is right.
